Elections will be held at the June 25  general meeting.  Our candidates, as of press time, include the following:

For President:  John Pinkerton, K7ZSK (incumbent)

For Vice President:
Not yet selected

For Recording Secretary:
Lee
Hopper, NB7F

For Treasurer/Membership Secretary:  Pete Rodabaugh, W7PR (incumbent)

For Director (one-year position):  Glenn Pelikan, K7GWP

The other Director position currently being staffed is a three-year slot that won't be up for reelection until 2005.  The Committee will also be amenable to anyone who proposes to run a contested election for any position.

We Seek Your Input

he PARC general membership has been meeting on the 3rd Friday of the month for a number of years, because at one point it was more convenient to move the general meeting up a week.  We are in a situation right now where some of our members have conflicting commitments that would prevent us from making officers out of them, unless we revisit this issue.

When the current By-Laws were drafted and adopted in 1982, the meeting times of the Board and of the General Membership were stipulated in that document as being the 2nd Thursday and 4th Friday, respectively (plus or minus for holidays).  We loosened the strictures on those functions in the early '90s, primarily to keep certain people on the Board who were either unwilling to give up other commitments that conflicted or had other reasons to prefer it.

We're facing a similar situation now, as we approach our elections for officers and directors for the 2004-2005 term. There are several members of our organization who have either religious conflicts with that particular Friday or are members of another major organization that also meets on that day of the month.  At the last meeting of the Board (which was quite sparsely attended, although there was a quorum for doing business), it was proposed to fly by the general membership moving the general meeting back to the 4th Friday (except for end of the year holidays) and the Board to some time during the second week of the month, beginning with the new term in July.

This is not something that requires a formal motion and action at the June meeting (also postponed to the 4th Friday because of the convention the previous weekend).  If you have strong feelings either way on this issue, we want to hear them!  This will probably precede the election at the June meeting, since the outcome of whatever we decide will determine who might have to withdraw from the election.
