President's Message

i gang! Boy, what a winter we've had! Between the weather and trying to find a new antenna farm suitable for the family to have a  garden(vegetable) I haven't had much of an opportunity to write any articles for the sPARC gap! That's about to change as now I am settled into a house with at least one radio and antenna and plans to get the rest going!

We've had some really nice pro-grams to start the year off,  especially the program on Amateur radio and Scouting and the desire to gain amateurs through various pro-grams within the Scouts. I hope that  we all can do our part, no matter how insignificant, to pro-mote Amateur Radio to the youth of our community!

We still need to keep our eyes and  ears open to make sure we don't let the BPL(broadband over powerline)  Internet plans make it in to our lives with out doing every-thing we can to resist it!

On a bit of a side note in the technical vein, any suggestions from the members on your favorite way to bring antenna lead-ins through the wall cleanly, send me an email and maybe we can put together an article for the sPARC gap and help me get more leads through the wall and keep peace in the house.

Now to this month's activities. Our meeting this month will have Wes Allen, K7WWG, as our guest speaker with a program on repeaters and their intricacies as well as a history of their evolution, I hope. An article in the current QST gives a little of that history in Southern California. For now, see you on March 19th!
