f you were a member of PARC, you should be aware that your membership ended in January and that it's time to renew for 2004. If you're considering joining for the first time or rejoining after a year or more off, we welcome your new membership. New, renewing or former members are always welcomed.
If you are a PARC member who is considering joining the American Radio Relay League, or if you are rejoining after a lapse of 2 years or more, you can really help the PARC treasury by joining via the club. PARC will receive $15 from the ARRL for each membership we process. ARRL membership is now $39 per year, and includes 12 issues of
QST magazine. Something else you might consider at the same time is ordering QSL cards (a portion of the proceeds goes to the club). You may think $60.00 is a high price to pay, but for what you get (3-color printing on semi-gloss paper), it's actually quite a bargain. We'd invite comparison with the offerings of any printer who advertises in
QST. PARC QSL cards are only available to members.

ARC is encouraging contributions to the ARRL fund to help fight BPL, the "Broadband over Power Lines" proposal, which threatens to flood the High Frequency spectrum with high noise levels while delivering Internet service via the power grid. This would render HF unusable for many amateur radio operators.
You can send contributions to the ARRL direct, or to
PARC, where your donation will be combined with those from other members and an appropriation from the PARC treasury
(see membership application form, below). PARC will present the ARRL with a check, or checks, for all proceeds designated to fight
BPL. Make your check payable to PARC and specify it for the ARRL BPL Fund. This is a tax deductible donation. Now is the time to fight this proposal, and it takes money to do it. The ARRL is leading the opposition and needs our support now.
