President's Message

ovember is traditionally the month that we have set aside in this country to give thanks for all the great things that this nation has brought us. We have the opportunity to pursue the profess-ion of our choice, live where we would like to, travel about the country, have a family of as many children as we can afford. Education opportunities abound, hobbies of all different types exist and can be freely pursued. I hope all of you have the opportunity to share with your family and friends at this time of the year.

Charities need our help this year more than ever, so if you can find it in your heart and wallet, share with some one you don't know and may never meet. In the area of giving, PARC is taking donations for  the ARRL action  against BPL over the power grid. Oh yes! It's time to make plans for our December dinner meeting! Shenanigan's was a great place and we would go again unless some one would like to try a different venue. See all of you on Nov. 21 at the next PARC meeting!

SET Thanks!

hanks to all club operators who participated in the Oregon ARES Simulated Emergency Test on October 20th. This SET tested the call-up of operators with no advance notice. The bulk of the Multnomah County response began with an emergency information QST on the PARC 146.84 repeater and was spread by telephone from there, per the instructions of the QST. The November exercise will concentrate on National Traffic System Radiograms via voice and especially packet radio.
