President's Message

now know first hand how your plate can fill right up when you become the President of an organization! Fortunately I have a great group of people to work with in this one!

A great many thanks from this office for the participation of those in support of the parade held July 18th to honor our military. It looks like an annual event for us and will provide another avenue to expose Amateur Radio to the public.  We need to develop and maintain this exposure so that Amateur Radio will continue to be a viable and vibrant hobby for years to come!

As a reminder to those of you who participate in the Portland Marathon each year should speak up for your favorite spots now so that we will not have to find operators for too many locations.

A little bit about myself before I close. I have been licensed since 1963 and enjoy operating 40 meter cw and of course 2 meter fm. I love to collect older equipment, especially the great Ten-Tec cw rigs. I have participated in several severe emergency situations over the years and have the desire to continue to do my very best to serve the community in that regard.

In closing, I think that all the great volunteerism at Field Day is the shining example of  the spirit of Amateur Radio! Let's keep it up!
