WA7VTD Appointed Asst. SM

ARC Life Member Kevin Hunt,  WA7VTD, has been appointed as  Assistant Section Manager by Oregon Section Manager Marshall Johnson, KK7CW.  An attorney and ARRL volunteer Counsel, Kevin joined PARC in 1984, served as PARC President 1993-94, and at various times has represented PARC in legislative and administrative matters, as well as representing individual amateurs in tower proceedings. Kevin was instrumental in drafting the amateur-friendly Gresham and Oregon City tower ordinances, and chaired the PARC Tower Defense Committee that achieved deletion of prohibitive requirements from Portland's Buildings Bureau policies affecting ham towers. An Extra Class licensee, Kevin drafted the first charter of the Friendship Amateur Radio Society (FARS) after returning with other PARC members from the first Friendship Radiosports Games held in Khabarovsk, former Soviet Union, in 1989. FARS now has chapters in the USA, Russia, Canada and Japan, and Kevin served as FARS International Secretary from 1995-99. He continues to serve as FARS USA's General Counsel. Kevin also has served as EC/RO for Oregon City ARES/RACES since 1997. Kevin would like all PARC members to know that he will be always available to field questions, complaints, and suggestions concerning the Oregon ARRL Field Organization. He may be contacted at wa7vtd@arrl.net.
