is good to know where we can find info on whats happening around us here in Oregon, the great NW, the USA & the World so we can respond to assist those in need with our Amateur Radio skills. Granted that when the worst happens we, here, may not have access to the web BUT when it does happen those who can't from where they are they will really appreciate what you can do for them. Here are some the WWW web pages you might be interested in for information or just general browsing. Sure beats just playing solitaire while listening to that net we checked into & who knows what nifty "stuff" you might find. I have tested all and they are good, clean & usable sites. Enjoy em for what they are. Click & enjoy. Top of the list are some general sites followed by some sites for a few specific pieces of information. <http://navymars.org/> Navy-Marine Corps MARS home page for Information, Sending MARS Grams, w/ links to Army & Air Force MARS. <http://www.arrl.org/> Official ARRL Home Page for Amateur Radio News & Information. <http://members.home.net/ares- packet/> Oregon ARES/RACES info on Packet Radio, APRS, General Info, Links & Training. <http://www.ualr.edu/~hamradio/ callsign.html> Univ. of Arkansas ARC lookup page of US FCC amateur callsigns.

ECOM SUPPORT WWW IDEAS
Preparedness is the key for good Emergency Communications efforts. To this end we, as emergency communicators, either as Amateurs or MARS members need to be aware of what is happening around us. This is really kind of fun to do also, especially when we like to bedazzle our friends with those wonderful facts of the world around us that they never knew they needed to know. Such as where the lightening strikes were in North Dakota just before you left the house, the speed of the Solar wind today, they could see the Northern Lights in Arizona last nite, which rivers are flooding in Vermont today or the names of the Near Earth passing asteroids this month. Wow, big deal some say. Well for some that is nifty info to have IF they are working for DXCC & want to know the HF props. to Europe for the day, have a "sked" with uncle John at 1300z on 20 meters or want to do try a "Sat" qso with the Shuttle. Also it is nice to be able to look up the elevation of that house we lived in in Iowa City & is flooding now, or will the hurricane ruin that vacation in Florida. For the Ecom oriented folks it
