MURS radios  On the upside:

1. More VHF unit production means cheaper VHF unit prices for us (probably). Has anybody shopped for a VHF mobile lately? Yeasu's new FT1500 is down to $160. According to HRO, this is because VHF monobanders have been flying off the shelves since restructuring. The Icom IC2100H is $170, I think. I paid $210 for mine 2 years ago. If they're smart they'll build a single platform which is saleable as a fixed freq. radio for the amateur market. I'd buy one if the price were right.

2. The MURS radios will make a great XMAS gift for your favorite
repeater LID.

The URL below is a link to eham.net. You can make this your opening page when you log onto the Internet if you wish to go to options and change the

It looks like the normal opening page for an ISP but it's all ham related. Cool eh? I made it my opening page, just thought I'd share.

FCC Creates New License-Free VHF CB Service

The FCC has quietly created a new radio service on five VHF "business band" frequencies. The Multi-Use Radio Service "MURS" will be unlicensed, and will permit voice, data, or image communications with a maximum of 2 watts effective radiated power (ERP). Also permitted are telemetry and radio-control transmissions, which may operate with a continuous carrier on four

Renewal Notices!

Due to some confusion in the Clubs new membership renewal policy  we will be resending May - October renewal notices to those members who haven't renewed yet
Remember we have changed our base year to run from January to January, so to bring all members to the same renewal date some of you will receive a bill for only a portion of the yearly fee.
Membership renewals are down and it may be due to the confusion. It's a new system so be patient, we'll figure it out soon.
