July PARC Board meeting Minutes

Present at the July 2, 2000 meeting were: Neal N7RX, Pat W7LEW, Lee KD7CTF, Darrell KC7AOI, Ken K7FLE, Chuck KC7PDI, Tony KI7GA, John K7RUN, Steve N07V, Maureen WB7WDL, Sam KD7JRQ, Rhonda, Walker & Lilly Etta
1. Old Business
Since this was the first meeting of the new board, there was no old business to speak of.
2. Business Meetings
Neal suggested having the business meetings on Sunday Mornings as a breakfast meeting, with follow-ups throughout the month as a 'roundtable' on the 146.94 club repeater. A general consensus approved, with the caveat that it would have to be in a private meeting room.
3.
E-group Mailing Lists
There are two e-mail 'reflectors' set up on E-groups for the club. The first is
PARCNET, "Portland Amateur Radio Club, Inc. "e-net" for the exchange of information about club activities and other items of interest to the amateur radio community." The second reflector is MYELMER, "A ham radio message reflector for on-line help for Portland Amateur Radio Club members." Neal is moderator of both groups at this time.
4.
Treasure's Report
Neal gave treasure's report as outgoing treasurer. He noted that the amount shown is somewhat inflated as some members overpaid their dues. It was suggested that the Treasurer and  Membership Secretary include a note in the renewal notices explaining the overages to members involved.
There can be no more '
Coffee Stops' until the club is granted 503C non-profit status. Neal is working on this, but noted that it can take as long as six (6) months.
5. Repeater Committee Report
John , Lee and Ed KC7GFX plan on visiting the 146.84 repeater site the weekend of July 8-9. The July General meeting is scheduled to be a repeater site visit, and John advised that it would be best to have the picnic off site, with designated transportation to the site, which was approved by the board. Chuck is going to arrange the site, and put an announcement in the sPARCgap; Neal will announce the site on the Monday night PARCNET.
6.
Membership Secretary Report
Darrell KC7AOI had not yet received records from Craig KC7YOC. Craig has created a very useful Access application for the member records.
7.

The following licensing classes were discussed.

Pacific Crest School in Fall 2000

8. Telephone a Member!
A motion was made to have all club members contacted at some time in the year by a board member. A motion was also made to have board member(s) act as greeters at General Meetings to make sure that everyone was greeted and included in the meetings.
