McARES NET CONTROL PROCEDURES AND PREAMBLE

GOOD EVENING! This is (YOUR NAME & CALL), your net control station calling this evenings' Multnomah County Amateur Radio Emergency Service net. This net meets every Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM on this repeater for the purpose of exchanging information about ARES, including NERT and NET team activities, as well as other items of interest to emergency communicators. All traffic will be accepted and should be in correct NTS format.  Also, this is a directed net and all stations are requested to remain on frequency until excused by net control. If you must leave, please advise. Emergency traffic will be handled at any time. 

(pause for repeater reset)

Please check in with your call sign and name indicating if you have traffic, contacts, or other business for the net. Traffic should be listed when acknowledged by Net Control, and passed after the general roll call and announcements. Stations representing emergency groups or agencies are encouraged to indicate their affiliation.

The net will now stand by for stations operating only on emergency power.

The net will now stand by for those stations that need to be In and Out.

(Pause for contacts. Acknowledge those check-ins, ask if anyone wishes a contact with the departing stations. Repeat as necessary, excuse the stations. Only ask once)

The net will now stand by for any new hams, hams new to our area, or any hams new to ARES.

The net will now stand by for all other Amateur Radio Emergency Service member check-ins. Check-ins are grouped alphabetically by call sign suffix. Please check in with your call sign and name. If you have traffic, contacts, or an announcement, please indicate this and then list the items when acknowledged. 

(Acknowledge those who have checked in. Get listing of items for the net. Repeat through the alphabet as below until no more stations respond)

Are there any check-ins for call sign suffixes Foxtrot through Kilo?
Are there any check-ins for call sign suffixes Lima through Sierra?
Are there any check-ins for call sign suffixes Tango through Zulu?

Are there any missed or late check-ins, call sign suffixes Alpha through Zulu?

The net will now stand by for any NERT or NET team member check-ins.  Please check in with your call sign, name and your team association.

(Acknowledge check-ins.  Go back and pick up, announcements, contacts, Q & A, business, etc.  After last check-in and announcement, proceed to any traffic and arrange handling. Net control may handle traffic at own discretion. After traffic is handled, proceed.)

Hearing no further business, this is (your call) closing this evenings' session of Multnomah County's Amateur Radio Emergency Service net. Thanks to all stations who participated today and to those who stood by to give us a clear operating frequency. The W7LT repeater is owned and operated by the Portland Amateur Radio Club and permission for its use is greatly appreciated by Multnomah County ARES.  This net will meet again next week at 7 PM.
